Fireball’s Story

Fireball is a steer who came to Rowdy Girl Sanctuary through someone the founder met in Brazoria some years ago. This person had been following the sanctuary’s journey on Facebook and knew the founder from their previous work in the concrete business. Inspired by the posts she had seen, she mentioned that she had been a vegetarian for a while and was now considering adopting a vegan lifestyle.

She then shared the story of Fireball. Her son had raised Fireball as a baby in the FFA system and had grown to love him. When it came time to show Fireball, he didn’t win the top prize—he placed, but he wasn’t the blue ribbon winner, so he wasn’t going to bring in significant money.

Not wanting Fireball to be slaughtered, the family brought him back and pastured him at a relative’s place. However, the relative who was caring for Fireball is now in declining health and can no longer provide the care Fireball deserves. To ensure Fireball didn’t end up in the slaughter system, they reached out to Rowdy Girl Sanctuary, and we were thrilled to offer Fireball a forever home.

The founder has affectionately nicknamed him “Mr. Handsome.”
