Frosty’s Story

Frosty is a purebred Texas Longhorn who arrived at Rowdy Girl Sanctuary at just six months old. When he first came to the sanctuary, he was very anxious and scared. He paced the pen for almost two weeks because he missed his mother and family so much. Frosty was bred by a small breeder in Texas, and for these breeders, keeping a bull calf is usually out of the question. Typically, these calves are sold or given to FFA or 4H kids to raise and show in county fairs. Unfortunately, there is no guarantee that these gentle animals will survive the show; most are sold and slaughtered.

Frosty was still nursing up until the day he came to Rowdy Girl. Although he was receiving hay and sweet feed, his mother was still in the pasture. Now, Frosty is much calmer, and his sweet disposition is shining through. He has become very independent and sometimes wanders off alone to explore.
