It has always been so distressing to me that children are encouraged to raise (and get attached to) animals who will then be sold for slaughter. What the hell are we doing? Teaching them to “let go” is a ridiculous use of words to describe an experience that will affect them negatively for the rest of their lives…just ask any adult who went through that “educational experience” as a child. Every photo of a child saying goodbye to their “project” (as the clueless Matt Brockman…”publicity manager” for the Ft. Worth Stock Show refers to those living, breathing, feeling animals) is the best advertisement for living a vegetarian life. Get it together, you good old wild west people, and stop torturing children…and their pets. And a meatless world would be much more environmentally friendly also.
