Rowdy Girl Sanctuary is honored to host an intimate evening with Dr. Sailesh Rao, founder of Climate Healers, for a community potluck and conversation around food, compassion, healing, and the urgent vision of creating a vegan world.

This gathering will be centered around the spirit of Together Around Food, an innovative community model being pioneered in Jefferson County, Washington, with the intention of inspiring communities around the world. The heart of the vision is simple and transformative: every person in a community should have access to nourishing, gourmet, plant-based meals three times a day, seven days a week, completely free of charge.

At Rowdy Girl Sanctuary, this message speaks directly to who we are. We were once a Texas cattle ranch. Today, we are a sanctuary for rescued farmed animals and a living example of what can happen when compassion changes the story. Gathering together around plant-based food is not just about feeding people. It is about changing culture, healing the Earth, protecting animals, restoring health, and creating a future rooted in care instead of exploitation.

During the evening, Dr. Rao will share about the Together Around Food initiative and its larger purpose: ending hunger, accelerating the transition to a vegan world, improving human and non-human health, reducing waste, strengthening local food systems, and building deeper community through shared meals.

This evening will also be a chance for us to imagine what this kind of model could mean for Texas, for rural communities, for animal sanctuaries, and for the broader movement to end animal suffering worldwide.

Guests are invited to bring a vegan dish to share for the potluck. Please bring only plant-based food, with no animal products of any kind, in alignment with Rowdy Girl Sanctuary’s mission and property values.
