Chirp Chirp’s Story

Chirp Chirp came to Rowdy Girl Sanctuary as a tiny, itty-bitty baby. He had been hand-raised by a woman who was ill and cuddled him all day. Unfortunately, as her dementia worsened, she could no longer take care of Chirp Chirp. That’s when a family member reached out to the sanctuary, and they agreed to take in this beautiful little bird.

When Chirp Chirp came to RGS he was always near me.

Soon, Chirp Chirp was on my head.

Even as Chirp Chirp grew into a big, beautiful rooster, he never seemed to realize he wasn’t a baby anymore. He continued to ride around on top of her head and accompany her everywhere. Chirp Chirp was always with her.

The fact that you can come to love an animal so much—an animal you once might have eaten—is utterly indescribable.

Chirp Chirp & Renee pose for the camera. Sadly, Chirp Chirp has crossed the rainbow bridge.

Rest in peace, dear friend.
