Shade’s Story

Shade was an apartment duck—yes, you read that right! She was surrendered to Rowdy Girl Sanctuary by her owner after her mom got a job as a FEMA worker and couldn’t take Shade along on her long travels.

It was hard for the sanctuary team to take Shade in because they could see just how much her mom loved her. However, it was clear that Rowdy Girl Sanctuary was the best option for Shade to have the life her mom wanted for her.

Shade got to spend the rest of her life waddling freely in the grass—for the very first time! She was happy at the sanctuary with all of her new duck friends.

Sweet Shade loved watermelon and adored all the humans at Rowdy Girl. She especially loved being held and cuddled.
