Hello! I want to introduce ourselves. My name is Cindy Traylor. Me and my husband, Richard met Renee, Tommy and Ryuji about a year ago. Let me start at the beginning. We have 20 acres in the New Waverly, Texas area, and we have a small herd of cows. When one of our cows, Honey, hurt her leg, I was greatly distraught because if one of the cows can’t reproduce, the standard thing is to take the cow to market to be slaughtered. I couldn’t stand the thought of Honey going there, as she was a very special cow who would come to me when called and eat from my hand.
When Richard said he was going to take her to market, I made him promise to hold off so I could find a place for her to go. He cautiously said OK, and I started calling rescue groups in the area. Well, that wasn’t very easy. I called around a bit until I found Rowdy Girl Sanctuary’s website. I left a message with Renee’s assistant and was a basket case, crying and worrying, until I got a call back from Renee later that same day. I told Renee about Honey and she told me she would help in any way she could and would get back with me.
Long story short, Renee found another rescue/sanctuary in Giddings, Star Love Ranch, who said they would take Honey. I was ecstatic!! Richard was skeptical, because he has difficulty trusting people’s intentions. He thought this might be a scam! Renee arranged for her, Tommy and Ryuji to come to our place and go with us to Star Love. When they arrived, they came in to the house and we started talking. Renee and Tommy told us their story of how they turned vegan and now were trying to help other ranchers. Richard and Renee really hit it off and really got into some serious talking. Soon Richard realized that if he was a true environmentalist, he could no longer keep taking the cattle to market. I was shocked and I think he was, too. He even agreed that Honey’s calf, Ginger, should go to Starlove with her! We went with the cows to Starlove and felt good knowing Honey and Ginger would have a safe life.

This was the beginning of our journey into learning more about going vegan and how we became part of the @rancheradvocacyprogram
Instagram post 2163657432195589058_1642053041 Pretty cool that there is a chapter dedicated to my story in the newly published book #earthheroes. @gretathunberg is in the first chapter. Instagram post 2163202279847871956_1642053041 Hey y’all. Hey just want to say thank you for all you are doing to support and share our chicken paradise fundraiser. I’m determined to get better enclosures for some of our birds that really need more area to forage, and with your help I know we can and will do it. We are committed to the care of all our animals for their whole life. Please help us with a few dollars if you can. We are repurposing what was once a 1930’s pug farm. Love y’all and hope to see some of you next Saturday- Nov 2nd at the #waelderwelcome LINK TO DONATE is in my bio. This fundraiser ends 10/29. #rowdygirlsanctuary #chickens #chickensofinstagram #ilovechickens #veganfundraiser #veganinspiration #coloradochicks #dowhatyoucan #animalrights #veganactivist #endspeciesism
Instagram post 2161728941136888463_1642053041 Meet Lucy. She loves to perch on my shoulder and my head. She learned this when she was a baby and she’s never forgotten this. Lucy along with our other rowdy chickens are in need of much better infrastructure. In Angleton we had all their chicken coops built out and we could easily rotate the flocks for foraging which all birds need. In Waelder the infrastructure is minimal, and what we have is very 1930’s—like an old pig farm that we plan on renovating for our birds. We are doing a fundraiser on Facebook right now to help us raise $5000 for the initial costs of building out this area so that they can have lots of shade, great foraging, and above all the protection they need. We only have 4 more days for this fundraiser. If you’d like to donate a few dollars towards this project it would be so appreciated. LINK IS IN MY BIO TODAY, and I always love hearing from all of you!! Drop me a message anytime. Love and appreciate all of you so much. Take care. #ilovechickens #rowdygirlsanctuary #vegansanctuary #friendsnotfood #endspeciesism #animalsarenotfood #veganactivist #veganfundraiser #txisgoingvegan #texasvegan #chickensofinstagram #chickenselfie #animalrights
Instagram post 2160730884933059845_1642053041 Dolly, Panther, Maria, and Mia all have distinct personalities. They have their own reasons for existing on Mother Earth, and it’s not our job to dominate their lives. Left alone to be chickens they have rich experiences and are so diverse in nature Their personalities are so genuine. How did I ever eat their legs, breasts, arms and thighs? It’s so repulsive now that I’m vegan. They are indeed my friends. COME SEE US. ON NOV 2nd, And come meet new friends!! Instagram post 2159252629197643274_1642053041 I will never stop advocating for animals. The food system is rigged. Our cultures have normalized violence. Veterinarians care for animals yet eat their patients. Kids are taught to disinherit their compassion—they care for animals and sell them to the highest bidder as commodities. They’re taught to suppress their feelings in favor of money. Churches teach doctrines of love, kindness, and service yet believe animals are put here for humans to eat. I can go on and on about the egregious dichotomies of the human race but I’ll end here. This conversation can be heard on my YouTube channel. Link in my bio. I can’t post the link yet. Instagram post 2158641950480641499_1642053041 This man right here is my rock. Sanctuary life can be so hard. Today has been one of those days. We’re exhausted. I’ve watched Tommy sacrifice time and time again for this sanctuary, for the animals, and for me. He is the most amazing human I know. I wish I could wave a magic wand and make his every wish come true—I love him so much. Our love has been complicated but rare and genuine. We’ve weathered hurricanes and crazy ladies, yet we got stronger. We always wake up on the bright side. ~ Goodnight 🌙 #sweetdreams #rowdygirlsanctuary #txisgoingvegan #lastinglove #inthemorning #ilovecows #sydneyandterald #animalrights #veganranch
Instagram post 2157818029044884602_1642053041 ・・・from @jennileighfer #rancheradvocacyprogram ”This is our bull “The Behemoth’. He has an eye that needed looking at this morning and had to be penned so we could take a closer look and administer medication.
This old lumbering giant is one of my favorite farm residents. I call him “The Behemoth” because he a prehistoric looking beast. To give you an idea of how big he is, that space where his nose is poking through is the width of an average cow’s neck. He had to turn his head sideways to make it down the chute because he has horns on either side of his massive head.
He is a big, old dude and I love him.
Luckily his eye irritation wasn’t anything that wouldn’t heal but we gave him some medication to ward off infection. That means… he got a shot. He’s a giant but gets scared even when we spray him for flies so giving him a shot made me want to cry. Anything that we have to do now that feels like breaking their trust is brutal for me. But he handled it well and I immediately gave him cookies for being so brave. Just like I would if one of my dogs needed medical attention and cookies.
He is an individual with a lovely, endearing presence. He is someone I never would have seen before. He’s just a big, old, beautiful Hereford bull. I might have once even been irritated that my morning was hijacked by an eye that needed some extra attention. But now, I recognize that raising cattle for 20 years has left us with a wealth of experience and wisdom and it is a privilege for us to be able to use that to care for them now. @rancheradvocacyprogram is working with us on a business plan that not only gives us a roadmap and a plan to build the infrastructure we need to convert our former chicken farm to a veganic mushroom farm but it also allows us to care for these amazing animals - animals like our beautiful Behemoth - for the rest of their lives.” - @jennileighfer

Instagram post 2155955922259118057_1642053041 The Red Trailer used to be a trailer that took babies to the sale barn - now it is old and tattered. It will eventually be in a museum I’m sure of it. - -

People that come to our events and tours love to sign it. We are looking forward to seeing friends and meeting new ones at our first event in Waelder TX on November 2nd - We are going to have a joyous time of celebrating Rowdy Girls move from the flood waters. We are now able to focus entirely on growing our organization into the future so that we can impact the world to go vegan. That is my greatest mission - -
We are more than a sanctuary - we are an education center that impacts the world with our social media and events. Because we are the 1st documented beef cattle ranch vegan conversion, the media has told our story on the news, magazines, documentaries, newspapers, blogs, podcasts, etc. And, as the founder of Rowdy Girl Sanctuary I amplify every opportunity to speak out on behalf of the sentient animals that we used to send to slaughter. -

As former ranchers turned vegan, it is imperative to spread the word. I believe with all my heart that when ranchers change, and their stories are told over and over again that the world will listen. I believe that a new system of normal will be established and that the old decaying system of animal agriculture will die. We must be ready. -

Rowdy Girl Sanctuary is committed to not only being ready but we are committed to targeting our programs to address the changes. We are helping farmers and ranchers with this challenge with our RANCHER ADVOCACY PROGRAM, and we are helping families of FFA and 4H with our FAMILIES CHOOSING COMPASSION PROGRAM.
-

Come to our WAELDER WELCOME EVENT ON NOVEMBER 2ND. Help us bless the land. Bring your musical instruments, your stories and singing voice and share your heart with us. We will also share RAW fruits and veggies with each other and the animals - so bring enough to share. -

Love you all, Rowdy Girl - -

Instagram post 2154164865104005374_1642053041 Why would a grocery store put the decapitated heads of piglets in their grocery store in plain sight. I almost threw up when I saw this last night at a well known store. I had to take photos so that I could document before they became some families tamales. I was so upset, I told @jeridevereaux that I was going to talk to the manager. I was shaking I was so distraught. When the manager came over I asked him why this store allowed the decapitated heads of baby pigs to be in the cooler in plain sight? He explained that it was because people buy them to make tamales. I looked at him in disbelief. “Pig head tamales” I asked? “That’s so disgusting”! “What if a child sees this” I asked. He didn’t have a problem with it and continued to tell me that people buy them so they supply them. I said “if people thought it was ok to make tamales out of the decapitated heads of people would you put them on display? He said that was different and changed the subject. I told him how sad I was and asked him to please reconsider the violent nature of this. He said that the display was approved. I said DISPLAY??? He retracted his comment and said he didn’t mean to say display. I said “yes you did”! “That’s exactly what you meant”! Anyway, I’m posting this because their lives mattered and they’ve been reduced to a lobbed off head on display at a major food chain. How can this be people? They supply this horrible display because of demand only! Tamales can be made with plant based foods. There is no sense in this abominable display of violence for all to pass by and see. This is why we are a desensitized species. Please go vegan for the Animals! #groceryshopping #itsnotfooditsviolence ##friendsnotfood #veganfortheanimals #veganforthem #veganforlove #animalexploitation #pigsofinstagram #grocerystore #groceries ##scary #horror #endviolence #animalrights #animalshavesouls #veganisthefuture #desensitization
